Course Description:
This one-day course covers the basic survival skills new supervisors and managers need to effectively apply human resource policies.
General Course Objectives:

Participants attending this course will:

  • Develop a vacancy posting to ensure a sufficient applicant pool is established
  • Compose interview questions to assist in selecting the best candidate for a vacancy
  • Identify the best way to handle an employee relations situation through individual assessment and group discussion
  • Plan and conduct an effective coaching session
  • Participate in learning activities that cover the basics of human resources policies and directives
Pre-class Assignments:

Pre-class assignment are required for this class. These assignments will be provided to class participants within two weeks of the scheduled class by the Staff Development Training Program Staff. The pre-class work requires an average of 8 hours to complete.
