Chancroid
Chancroid is a bacterial infection that is spread by sexual contact and results in genital ulcers, which may be painful. Chancroid, like other ulcerative STDs such as genital herpes and syphilis, is a risk factor in the transmission of HIV infection.
Chancroid can be treated effectively with antibiotics. Successful treatment cures the infection, resolves the symptoms, and prevents transmission to others.
