Enrollment in the National Healthcare Safety Network (www.cdc.gov/nhsn
) is open to all types of healthcare facilities in the United States, including acute care hospitals, long-term acute care hospitals, psychiatric hospitals, rehabilitation hospitals, outpatient dialysis centers, ambulatory surgery centers, and long-term care facilities. NHSN includes a group function that can enable data-sharing relationships between NHSN participants and member organizations outside CDC, such as the N.C. Division of Public Health. North Carolina's NHSN Group is made up of the North Carolina hospitals and facilities that report data through NHSN and that have given the N.C. Division of Public Health rights to look at their data.
Joining the National Healthcare Safety Network is a two-stage process:
