Information for Individuals & Families
If you are experiencing a pesticide-related illness or injury:
- Seek medical attention or call the Carolinas Poison Center at 1-800-222-1222;
- Have the pesticide label, MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheet), or name of pesticide with you;
- Remove any pesticides from your skin by removing contaminated clothing and taking a shower; and
- Report the incident to N.C. Division of Public Health or the Carolinas Poison Center in one of three ways:
- Call the Carolinas Poison Center (CPC) at 1-800-222-1222. CPC operates 24 hours a day and is set up to collect all the necessary information. They have professionals on staff that can help with your questions about how pesticides affect you and how to treat poisoning.
- Mail or fax a report to the N.C. Division of Public Health (DPH), Occupational and Environmental Epidemiology Branch (OEEB), MSC 1912, Raleigh, NC 27699-1912; Fax: 919-870-4807.
- Call the Division of Public Health at 1-800-200-7090 or 1-919-707-5900.
To report a suspected pesticide violation:
- Contact N.C. Department of Agriculture & Consumer Services, Structural Pest Control and Pesticide Division, 1-919-733-3556.
