Planning and Outcomes Committee Charge

Recommend effective, efficient and sustainable approaches to:

  1. Improving the quality of planning by the state and local governmental public health system with regard to achieving public health outcomes and the North Carolina 2010 Health Objectives including procedures for coordinating state and local assessment and planning on an ongoing basis;
  2. Improving public health outcomes and reducing health disparities;
  3. Improving the collection, analysis and utilization of assessment information;
  4. Establishing appropriate linkages between planning, assessment and accountability for health outcomes by the public health system;
  5. Identifying and developing resources necessary to achieve planning and assessment related improvements in the public’s health;
  6. The identification of legislation and rules necessary to achieve and sustain improvements in planning, assessment and accountability for health outcomes;
  7. Determining the information technology needs essential to effective public health planning and assessment;
  8. Identifying resources, either existing or new, required to achieve and sustain improvements in planning and assessment; and
  9. The identification of key partners necessary to support effective planning and assessment.

Recommendations will be based on, but not limited to, the following activities:

  • A review of state and local needs assessment and planning documents and identification of critical unmet needs;
  • A review and update of public health governmental state and local public health system objectives from Healthy Carolinians 2010; and
  • Identifying the most critical evidence-based strategies to support the recommendations.
